This case describes a 39-year-old male with a known history of hypertension. During a symptomatic episode, the patient initiated a spot check with FibriCheck. The PPG trace showed a rapid, regular tachycardic pattern consistent with a possible supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), with an average heart rate of 144 bpm during the recording.
The patient then performed a Valsalva manoeuvre, which was reported as contextual trigger data. Immediately afterwards, the rhythm transitioned into a bigeminy pattern, visible as alternating normal and ectopic beats in the tachogram and Lorenz plot. This single measurement therefore captures a clear sequence of SVT → post-Valsalva rhythm conversion → bigeminy, illustrating how transient rhythm shifts can be localized and characterized within one short spot check.
Takeaway:
Detailed analysis of PPG spot checks can capture rapid rhythm transitions and improve interpretability, especially when paired with patient-reported context such as a Valsalva manoeuvre.
